On day one, MI welcomed Dr. Chen Yugui, Deputy President/Secretary General of CICPA (Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants) who opened the conference with an insightful keynote speech. Other sessions included showcasing member success stories, practical sessions on understanding each other’s cultures and case studies on firms’ initiatives to develop working relationships with China.
Day one finished with a fun session on the ancient art of tai chi led by Master Chen Yibin, delegates were up on their feet joining in – and some ended up on the floor!
Day two was dedicated to networking with attendees visiting a number of impressive Beijing sights - including the Summer Palace, the Bird’s Nest and the Temple of Heaven.
Day three was allocated to CIGs (common interest groups). We’d like to thank our leaders - Bernhard Madörin (Artax Fide Consult) who led the tax group, Didier Corthouts (Van Havermaet Groenweghe) who led the audit group and Vito Interlandi (Hayes Knight) who led the corporate finance group. MI was also delighted to welcome Sara Walsh, Chief Marketing Officer at Marks Paneth LLP, who led an interactive and practical marketing workshop.
MI would like to thank Jonten CPA for inviting all attendees to join their 10th anniversary celebrations. This comprised of a Chinese banquet followed by special performances from local performers and some talented Jonten CPA and Paul Wan & Co. staff.
The next MI international conference will take place in Copenhagen on 8-10 May 2015 which will coincide with MI’s 25th anniversary. We look forward to seeing you all there.
